About Juan Bielsa, painter

I'm a professional painter. I was born on February 6, 1961 in Andorra de Teruel, in Aragon (Spain). I studied art and painting at the "Universidad Popular" of my town for three years. Since my childhood the world of painting and its practice has fascinated me. I have always studied the evolution of visual arts with passion.

My paintings, basically, are spiritual paintings. I'm not a realistic painter. Nevertheless, at times, I can employ fragments of reality in my artistic expression. I'm looking for a spiritual art, but I also like experimentation and a part of playfulness.

In my practice of painting, I consider myself an heir to the artistic traditions which I love: the Egyptian art, fully religious, the ancestral landscape painters of China, and also the spiritual art of ancient India, and contemplative Zen... I also admire medieval Celtic art, and the best symbolism. In contemporary times, I love Cézanne, Kandinsky, Van Gogh, Klee... I'm in tune with Germanic expressionism and his currents, such as "Blauer Reiter" or "Brücke", for example. These are movements which I have profoundly studied.

My art? It is spiritual, that is, full of Love and Beauty, as far as it is possible. My art is a dance. I think my art is clearly a form of dance, it has the rhythms and the coherence of music. In a certain way, I can say I dance when I paint. I have always been in love with dance and music (Poetry), and I translate the dance of the Universe, the fountain of rhythm and Mistery, into forms and colors and meditations.
